A Candidate for the State’s First Congressional District

NACOGDOCHES – A Nacogdoches man is announcing he will be a candidate to represent the state’s 1st Congressional District in Washington, the spot now held by Tyler Republican Louie Gohmert. The formal announcement from Brent Beal will come at at 9:00 Saturday morning at the Nacogdoches County Courthouse. Then, he will then be making stops around the district. He will be in Longview Monday evening at 6:00 at the Silver Grizzly Espresso on West Tyler Street. Beal, who is a business professor at The University of Texas at Tyler, will be running in the Democratic Primary. Beal is critical district’s current congressman. He said, “Gohmert has failed to represent East Texans beyond those in his far-right GOP base.”
