FORT SMITH, Ark – Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee is buying four area radio stations. All of the stations are owned by the Waller family. One of those is the Tyler station known as the Breeze, which shut down last August following the death of Dudley Waller. The station could be back on the air soon. According to InsideFortSmith.com, Huckabee’s East Texas Results Radio filed the paperwork for the sale with the FCC on Monday. The filing said the deal is worth $1.2 million.
Huckabee is a 49% owner of East Texas Results Radio. His partner is long time Arkansas broadcaster Paul Coates. According to the news site, “Huckabee is no stranger to the radio business, having started out as a young broadcaster at his hometown station in Hope,†that news site says. “Following his two terms as governor of Arkansas, he would go on to host The Huckabee Report which took the place of ABC Radio’s Paul Harvey, and a syndicated talk show that aired opposite of Rush Limbaugh.â€
