MARSHALL – The city of Marshall will be looking for a new police chief. Late Monday afternoon Chief Jesus “Eddie†Campa submitted his resignation. His last day on the job is on Wednesday. He was named chief in August, 2014. The Longview News Journal quotes Campa as saying, “I submitted my letter of resignation today. I have made the decision to step aside to pursue other opportunities that have developed. After speaking to my family, we believe it is the right time to do that right now.†He did not elaborate on what those opportunities might be.
The paper said Campa also denied his resignation had anything to do with the recent TMPA allegations, which accused the chief of inappropriately monitoring officers’ vehicles and chastising employees for speaking out against his administration. “Those TMPA allegations are all false and baseless,” Campa said.
