Meals On Wheels Now Delivering BreakfastTYLER – Tyler’s Meals On Wheels Ministry has now started serving breakfast. Zoe Lawhorn says once a week, they take to their clients a box of items like dry cereal, dried fruit, milk and juice, which is designed to complete seven breakfast meals.The breakfast meal program is designed to meet the nutritional needs of the organization’s most nutritionally at-risk clients. The program is an initiative detailed in the organization’s 2016 Strategic Plan, which was created as a collaborative effort between the Board of Directors and members of the Meals On Wheels Ministry’s Executive staff.

The Sunrise Seniors Servings breakfast program was kicked off with a grant of over $34,000 from The Women’s Fund in Tyler. It will will be kept going in the future by donations and funding from the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Since the program started several weeks ago, the breakfast boxes are going to nearly 350 persons in Tyler and Smith County. Clients of the Meals on Wheels Ministry can receive Sunrise Senior Servings simply by asking to be placed on the list.
