Anti-DST Effort Continues in Austin

AUSTIN — We set the clocks ahead one hour this weekend, but efforts continue in the legislature to make this the last Daylight Saving Time in Texas. San Antonio state Sen. Jose Menendez has filed a bill that would keep texas on Central Standard Time year-round, effective November 5, when this weekend’s time switch ends. there’s also a companion bill in the House, filed by Dan Flynn of Van, but it faces an uphill climb. In 2015, House members voted 56-9 to keep the time change — arguing it would get darker earlier in the evening, leading to higher energy bills.
