Gilmer Police: Investigation Leads to 110 Grams of Meth, More

GILMER — A joint narcotics investigation in Upshur County led police to discover a large cache of drugs, including more than 110 grams of methamphetamine, at a house north of Gilmer on Wednesday, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said. That’s according to KETK and the Longview News-Journal. Officers with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, the Gilmer Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety also found three pounds of marijuana, 36 grams of cocaine, 10.5 grams of Xanax, and 7.4 grams of Ecstasy at the house.
Shundarrell Vondrake Cain, 44, of Gilmer has been charged with evading arrest/ detention with a vehicle, resisting arrest search or transport, possession of marijuana measuring between four ounces and five pounds, and tampering/fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair. Cain is being held on $27,000 bond in the Smith County Jail.
Officers with all three agencies were conducting a joint narcotics investigation around 10 p.m. Wednesday when they learned that a large amount of illegal drugs were being kept at a house north of Gilmer, the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office said. Police were given consent to search the house and found the large quantity of drugs, the sheriff’s office said. Police also found eight guns, one of which was determined to have been stolen.
