Man Sentenced to 75 Years after Plea in 2012 Longview MurderLONGVIEW — 22-year-old Torry Jamal Reed was sentenced Friday afternoon to 75 years in prison and a $10,000 fine after pleading guilty in the 2012 murder of DeAundrey Lamanze Rossum. KETK and the Longview News-Journal report Reed faced up to life in prison for the fatal shooting, which ended a confused night of drug-hunting that wound up outside the Signal Hill Apartments. There, prosecutors said during the four-day trial, the defendant and his younger brother walked up from behind an apartment unit and opened fire on Rossum, 23.

Rossum had been carrying $1,700 on the failed drug run, in which he drove Brendan Douglas and two others to Shreveport and back to Longview. Douglas was convicted of capital murder in 2015 and is serving life without the possibility of parole. Reed’s younger brother, Deion Reed, has yet to stand trial.
