TATUM — A man accused of trying to run down two Panola County Sheriff’s deputies was briefly hospitalized after being shot by the deputies. Treated at a hospital in Longview, before being taken to the Gregg County jail, was Stephen Cody Mullican, 27, of Beckville. Deputies are said to have approached the stolen truck he was driving after he crashed into a fence near Tatum early Tuesday morning. He is said to have backed up, pinning a deputy under the vehicle. That’s when he was shot. He’s now facing a variety of charges, including aggravated assault on a law officer. His bond totals $75,000 and he has been turned over to Rusk County authorities. The Texas Rangers are investigating the officer involved shooting.
