Suspect Surrenders in Jacksonville Shooting

JACKSONVILLE – A man wanted in a Jacksonville shooting has surrendered to authorities. Darel Hamilton, 25, of Jacksonville (pictured) surrendered to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department. He had been named in a warrant for aggravated assault. He was wanted in connection with a Wednesday shooting on Skyline Street. Wounded was Carlton Johnson, 27, of Jacksonville. He is hospitalized with at least two gunshot wounds. Police say the shooting followed an argument between the two men.
