GILMER — 23-year-old Robert William Frazier of Gilmer has been sentenced to 60 total years in prison on charges stemming from the deaths of two Harmony ISD graduates in a June wreck. KETK and the Longview News-Journal report Frazier pleaded guilty Jan. 10 to two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a deadly weapon and two counts of intoxication assault with a deadly weapon. District Judge Lauren Parish handed down 20-year sentences on two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a deadly weapon and 10-year sentences on two counts of intoxication assault with a deadly weapon. The sentences are to be served consecutively. Frazier will become eligible for parole after having served half of his total sentence.
Frazier was charged after a June 3 wreck on Texas 154 killed Haley Johnson, 19, and Bailee Russell, 17. Two other girls in Russell’s car, 17-year-olds Cameron Johnson and Alisha Allen, were injured but survived. The Texas Department of Public Safety said Frazier’s car crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and hit a car carrying the four girls head-on. Frazier was also injured in the crash. He had a blood alcohol level of .10, according to a DPS crash report. The court held a sentencing hearing case Tuesday and Wednesday, with family and friends of the girls and Frazier testifying about the crash and its effect on the people involved. Victim impact statements were read Thursday after Parish ruled on Frazier’s sentence.
