UT Tyler Announces New Development Board Chair

TYLER — Longtime Tyler businessman and community volunteer D.M. Edwards has been named the new chair of The University of Texas at Tyler Development Board for a two-year term. As chair, Edwards will lead an extensive group of volunteers who support the university’s programs and special events, according to a UTT news release. UTT President Michael Tidwell terms Edwards “an extraordinary supporter of UT Tyler, and of higher education in this region, for many years.”

Edwards has been giving to UT Tyler since 1997 and is also the UT Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences Advisory Council chair. In this position, he helped establish two D.M. Edwards Presidential Endowed Scholarships in Nursing. Additionally, Edwards is involved with the UT Tyler College of Business and Technology’s Economic Summit and Executive Speaker Series. He most recently underwrote, in memory of his parents, the university’s Center for the Musical Arts with the naming of the Davida and Welby C. Edwards orchestra room.
