Wood County Shooting Probed

QUITMAN – Wood County authorities are investigating the shooting of a woman mistaken for an animal. The call came in shortly before 5:00 Monday afternoon on County Road 2100. The 43 year old woman had been shot through the chest. She was taken to a Tyler hospital for treatment. Investigators say she was shot by a 14 year old boy who thought she was an animal by an abandoned house. He then called 911. Her car was found hidden by a tarp in the back yard of the abandoned house. She did not have permission to be there and authorities feel she have been in the process of burglarizing the house.
