Ride-Share in Longview

LONGVIEW – Through city council action, ride-share is coming to Longview. The Longview City Council paved the way for ride-share by unanimously amending its taxicab ordinance. A company called Fare had asked to come into Longview. City spokesman Shawn Hara told the Longview News Journal that Fare also has made inquiries in Tyler. Longview’s amended ordinance requires ride-share companies to hire third-party firms to conduct background checks on drivers. Those checks will be randomly double-checked by the Longview Police Department.
