TYLER — Tyler Junior College announced Tuesday the arrest of one person in connection with recent deadly conduct cases on campus. According to KETK, Jasper Williams, Jr., 18, of Mesquite, was arrested and charged with two counts of deadly conduct. Williams surrendered to TJC Campus Police on Monday. TJC Police also obtained warrants for two other people on related charges. None of persons involved in the incidents are TJC students. The deadly conducts events took place on campus September 21, November 20 and November 21. In all three cases, TJC students reported a vehicle pulled alongside them and a passenger pointed a gun at them. The suspects were described as black males and were seen driving a dark, four-door vehicle.
The weapons used in all of the cases were identified as BB pistols and were confiscated during the investigation. Williams was released Tuesday on bonds totaling $1,000. These weapons are virtually indistinguishable from more powerful and deadly handguns, stated TJC.
“Recklessly threatening others with this weapon could have led to a deadly confrontation, with police or armed citizens,†TJC President Dr. Mike Metke said. TJC’s statement said a safe and secure campus is their highest priority.
