TJC Dean Named to State Committee
TYLER – The dean of enrollment management at Tyler Junior College, Janna Chancey, has been appointed to the Undergraduate Education Advisory Committee of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. The committee serves as a forum for problem-solving and generating ideas to improve undergraduate education that reflect the goals of Texas’ higher education plan, 60x30TX.

Dr. Juan E. Mejia, TJC provost and vice president for academic and student affairs, said in a news release, “I am very proud of TJC’s academic and student affairs leadership team, the majority of whom serve on local, regional, state and national entities relevant to our college mission. They are a powerful voice for our students and our institution.”

The goals of 60x30TX are:
* 60 percent of Texans, ages 25-34, will earn a higher education credential by the year 2030;
* at least 550,000 students will complete a certificate, associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree from an institution of higher education;
* graduates from Texas public institutions of higher education will have completed programs with identified marketable skills; and
* undergraduate student loan debt will not exceed 60 percent of first-year wages for graduates of Texas public institutions
