Downtown Tyler Wins State Awards

TYLER – Downtown Tyler recently has received two statewide awards in the 2016 Texas Downtown Association President’s Awards Program. The awards, were announced during the Presidents Awards Gala, held in conjunction with the 2016 Texas Downtown Conference. They were for Best Commercial Interior and Best Restoration. The Best Commercial Interior award was given to the Butler Architectural Group. The People’s Petroleum Building was named winner of the Best Restoration Award. Another Downtown Tyler project, the Downtown Tyler Film Festival, reached finalist status in the Best Promotional Event category.

According to Beverly Abell of the City of Tyler Main Street Department, “To consider that these nominees were in competition with nominees from Texas communities with populations of 50,000 and up is an indication of just how tough the competition is and how much our Tyler projects had to shine when being judged.”
