An Arrest Made in a Campus ShootingTYLER – Two of three persons wanted in a shooting incident on the Tyler Junior College Campus remain at large. Campus police have arrested Tyron Lamon Shead, 19, of Mesquite. He has been charged with possession of a firearm on campus and tampering with evidence. Both charges are third degree felonies. Warrants are out for two others believed to have been involved in the incident. Besides the criminal charges, nine students face Student Code of Conduct violations in connection with the incident. It occurred on September 12th outside Sledge Hall, which is the dorm housing the TJC Apache football team. No injuries were reported.

In a news release from the school, TJC President, Mike Metke is quoted as saying, “Providing a safe and secure campus is our highest priority. We have zero tolerance for behavior that threatens, endangers or intimidates others, and we have relentlessly investigated all those involved in the September 12th incident. We are vigorously pursuing prosecution of any criminal behavior as well as enforcement of all school policies. In addition, we are making changes in our student housing to better ensure that students who are most likely to benefit from a TJC education are able to earn the privilege of living on campus.”
