TYLER — The Tyler Salvation Army is now standing by to help Hurricane Matthew victims as needed. The agency was due to send 3 disaster volunteers and its mobile kitchen unit to Florida Friday in response to the storm. But Friday afternoon, Salvation Army officials say they were asked to stand down their active deployment and to remain on standby until further notice. Salvation Army spokesperson Lindsey Galabeas says the agency did prepare Friday morning for disaster relief and was loaded down with enough food to make 1500 meals for initial response.
