Stabbing Suspect in Custody after Brief Escape

JACKSONVILLE — A woman who escaped police custody and allegedly stabbed a man at a Jacksonville apartment complex was arrested on Monday. According to KETK, Jacksonville Police were dispatched to the Creekside Village Apartments on S. Bolton Street on reports of a disturbance. When they arrived at the location, a man told officers an unknown person had entered his apartment and began stabbing him. Officers reported that most of the information the victim was giving to them was not consistent.

Witnesses told officers and the man had been arguing with a woman and she was still in the apartment. Officers knocked on the apartment’s door to speak to anyone in the apartment, and allegedly said to officers there was no one inside the apartment. Officers forced the door open and Shamicqa Wilson stepped into the hallway, covered in blood. Investigators determined Wilson and the victim had fought with each other, and at some point, Wilson pulled a knife and stabbed the man numerous times in the back. While stabbing the victim, Wilson cut herself on the hand.

Wilson was taken into custody and then transferred a Jacksonville hospital for medical treatment. The man was also taken to a Jacksonville hospital for treatment of his wounds. Wilson was able to sneak out a back door. She was found back at the apartment and taken into custody. Wilson was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and escape from custody.
