Inmate Hospitalized after Apparent Suicide Attempt

UPSHUR COUNTY — An Upshur County inmate is receiving medical treatment after officials say the inmate tried to commit suicide by hanging, according to the Longview News-Journal. A jailer was going through rounds around 6 p.m. Thursday and found the inmate in “a state of distress,” according to information released today by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office. The jailer called for other jailers and medical staff and first responders were called. The inmate was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
