Nacogdoches Man Charged With Sexual Assault of a Child

NACOGDOCHES – A Nacogdoches man is in custody in Tarrant County in connection to a Nacogdoches ongoing investigation into a sexual assault of a child. Arrested when he surrendered to authorities was John Paul Jones, 38. Authorities were tipped off by someone who said they saw a video of a child younger than 10 years of age on an iPad that was performing sexual acts with the suspect. Authorities say Jones gave them a full confession.

Investigators also seized his iPad and he admitted that he had deleted videos of sexual assault crimes from the iPad that he had originally made. Investigators took the iPad to the Lufkin Police Department to have a forensic analysis conducted. The forensic analysis recovered four videos from the iPad. The videos contained child pornography. Investigators say the evidence also substantiates the confession that Jones had made along with other forensic evidence obtained from the victim in the case.

Jones has been charged with Four counts of aggravated sexual Assault of a child, a 1st felony; one count of Indecency with a child, a 3rd felony and 2 counts of possession of child pornography 2nd felony. Jones will soon be transferred from Tarrant County to the Nacogdoches County Jail.
