Two Arrested in ATV Thefts

RUSK — An ongoing investigation into ATV thefts by the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in the arrest of two teens and the recovery of four ATVs with an approximate combined value of $32,000. According to the sheriff’s office, an ATV was reported stolen from FM 177 on July 30, and another was reported stolen from County Road 3901 on August 4. Both locations are around the Bullard area.The remaining two ATVs that were located during the course of the investigation were found to have been stolen out of Smith County.

Arrest warrants were issued for Taylor Hyman (pictured at upper left) and Alfredo Perez Jr. (lower left), both 17 and both from Jacksonville. Hyman turned himself in on August 10 and Perez was arrested two days later at his residence. Each suspect was was arraigned on two counts of theft. Hyman’s bonds were set at $2,000 for each count while bonds for Perez were set at $5,000 for each count.
