LONGVIEW — An East Texas man is behind bars after being arrested over the weekend for alleged methamphetamine possession. KETK reports that on Saturday around 9:05 a.m., a deputy with the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office was at the intersection of West Loop 281 and Enterprise Street when he saw a vehicle that had no registration sticker. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the car and spoke with the driver, who identified himself as Timothy Alan Scott, 53, of White Oak.
The deputy said he saw a red glove in Scott’s lap and he began to act very nervous. The deputy asked Scott to exit the vehicle. That’s when Scott placed the glove between the driver’s seat and the center console. Scott then dropped a purple container on the ground while trying to place it in his pocket. The deputy picked up the container and saw a clear, crystal substance inside which is believed to be methamphetamine. Scott was then placed under arrest.
While conducting inventory on the vehicle prior to the wrecker service arrival, the deputy found a plastic bag in the center console containing a clear, crystal substance inside which is also believed to be methamphetamine. Scott was booked into the Gregg County Jail on $5,000 bond.
