Arrest Made in Jacksonville Shooting

JACKSONVILLE – A woman is hospitalized and her husband in custody following a Jacksonville shooting. The shooting occurred around 9:00 Monday night at a home at 212 Kickapoo Street. Hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds is 26 year old Victoria Catherine Cooper. The investigation pointed to the woman’s husband, 29 year old Paul Daniel Cooper as the shooter. A news release from the police department said the man’s mother provided officers with information about events leading up to the shooting and assisted the department after officers advised her that Cooper needed to turn himself in. He surrendered to authorities shortly before midnight and was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Cherokee County jail.
