Tyler State Park Offering A Host of Summer ActivitiesTYLER – If you are looking for something to do with the family, there’s a playground of nearly 1,000 acres just north of Tyler. It’s Tyler State Park. Named a state park in 1939, it features 14 miles of hiking trails and a 64 acre spring-fed lake. Assistant Park Superintendent Shannon Peterson says the lake is probably the big draw, offering swimming and fishing. You can also rent canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and standup paddle boards.

If you like camping, they have a variety of camping options. They range all the way from camp sites, most with water hookups, all the way up to limited use cabins. The cabins are set up with a queen sized bed, dorm size refrigerator , microwave and a table and four chairs. And they do have air conditioning and heating. You can reserve one of these up to 333 days in advance. You can go to http://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/tyler to get more information.
