Hallsville Police Chief Reacts to Dallas ShootingHALLSVILLE — Hallsville police Chief Paul Montoya reacts to Thursday night’s devastating police shooting in Dallas. KETK reports Montoya shared a video on his Facebook page just hours after the incident. According to Montoya, “I say to people who have issues with how officers handle things or they’d have disagreements or just don’t understand or just don’t like the way they were handled. There is a proper way to handle those things. You come in. You file a complaint. Heck, you can call and have dispatch call me. If I have to, I will come out to the scene and handle that appropriately. Taking situations into your own hand and escalating the situation and in the advent of social media where everyone starts jumping on the bandwagon and its real easy to add to the misinformation and disconnect and drive a bigger wedge into something that isn’t what people are making it out to be.

“Law enforcement is the first and last line of defense between the community members who want to live a prosperous and peaceful life, and those who wish to do you harm. And when you attack our law enforcement officers, you are attacking the fabric of the community in which they live and serve. Now, more than ever, we need love and understanding. Let us all endeavor to find better forms of communication to work through differences rather than resorting to violence.”
