Commissioners Hope to Name Interim County Judge Next Month

TYLER — Smith County commissioners met Tuesday morning regarding an interim county judge, but don’t expect a decision for another few weeks. Joel Baker was suspended from any county duties stemming from an investigation into alleged violations of the open meetings act. The case involves executive sessions dealing with buying traffic cameras in 2014. According to KETK, commissioners decided they need more time to make what they call the right decision. They hope to announce an interim judge at their July 19 meeting.
