Investigation Ongoing in the Murder of Business OwnerLONGVIEW — Monday night, Longview business owner Ronnie Horaney was shot at his home north of the city. He died at a local hospital. According to KETK, the Mayor of Longview, Andy Mack, heard the news about his friend and cousin. “This should not have happened. Ronnie was one of the good guys. And he’ll be very very missed in our community,” said Mack. He said Horaney was a well-known business owner, husband, father, and friend to many people in Longview. The 54-year-old and his mother, Betty, own one of Longview’s oldest family businesses, Horaney’s Feed stores in Longview and Marshall. His grandfather, Harry Horaney founded the business in 1940.

City Spokesperson for the City of Longview, Shawn Hara said, “The Horaney business has been here for 75 years in Longview. They are not just for their customers a big impact, but they’ve been so community minded.”

The Horaney family and they said they want to thank the community for their support, and that Ron Horaney was a great husband, father, son and brother. Horaney leaves behind a wife and 5 kids, one of whom will graduate from high school later this week. The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office as well as Texas Rangers and State Troopers are working the case. Officials are following up on numerous leads.
