Texas Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday Memorial Day WeekendTYLER — Stores in East Texas and around the state will be offering once-a-year savings on Saturday, May 28, and Monday, Memorial Day, May 30th, during the Texas Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday Memorial Day Weekend. During Memorial Day weekend, Shoppers get a break from state and local sales and use taxes on purchases of certain energy efficient products including refrigerators priced at $2,000 or less, clothes washers, and dishwashers.

Qualifying products will display the ENERGY STAR logo, which may appear on the appliance, the packaging or the Energy Guide label. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. Earning the ENERGY STAR means a product meets strict energy efficiency guidelines set by these two federal agencies. Local appliance dealers, including Don’s TV & Appliance in Tyler, have details regarding the sales tax holiday.
