Man Taken Into Custody Near Tyler Pipe

SMITH COUNTY — Authorities have arrested a man after he was found lying near the roadway on Highway 69 north of Tyler. According to KETK, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office reports 38-year-old Calvin Dewayne Ellison, was spotted just north of County Road 471, on the northbound side of Highway 69 in front of Tyler Pipe. Officials say he was “under the influence of something” and he was taken into custody on warrants. Ellison has a lengthy history with the Smith County Sheriff’s Office, with arrests on a variety of charges dating to 1994.
