Nike Drops Manziel as Woes MountDALLAS (AP/Staff) — Nike confirmed Tuesday that it no longer has an endorsement deal with Johnny Manziel. That’s just the latest development in the ongoing saga of the troubled Tyler native and former Cleveland Browns quarterback. It was also learned Tuesday that Drew Rosenhaus has dropped Manziel as a client.

Last week, Rosenhaus told Manziel to seek help or he would no longer represent him. On Tuesday, the powerful agent removed his name as Manziel’s representative. Rosenhaus, whose clientele is among the largest in the NFL, represented Manziel for only a few weeks. Rosenhaus has been an agent for 27 years, and this is the first time he’s terminated a contract with a player. In February, Manziel’s first agent, Erik Burkhardt, said he severed his ties with the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner so Manziel could get help.

Manziel’s case will be presented to a Dallas County grand jury Thursday. The case involves the January night out when Manziel was accused of hitting his ex-girlfriend. Colleen Crowley said in court records Manziel dragged her back to her car as she was trying to escape, then hit her so hard she temporarily lost hearing in one ear. The grand jury is expected to report back out on Monday.
