TYLER – The Texas Economic Development Council heard a good review of activity last year and got a look at the prospects for 2016. The report came at the council’s annual luncheon on Thursday. In 2015, they worked with 11 different projects with a total investment by the companies of $25 million.
One of the big announcements last year Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), a major health care organization, selected Tyler over multiple competing locations as the site of its new medical business office support facility. In addition to the already existing 120 jobs currently filled in FMCNA, the facility will add between 300-350 more new jobs. Fresenius is the world’s largest integrated provider of products and services for people undergoing dialysis due to kidney failure. They are currently building an 80,000 square feet, two-story office facility on a landscaped site at the northeast corner of SSW Loop 323 and Earl Campbell Parkway.
And looking ahead, the prospects for 2016 are bright. Tyler Economic Development Council President and CEO, Tom Mullins, says he currently working on the largest deal he has ever worked on in his over 30 years in economic development. Tyler is one of the leading communities for what could be a $163 million investment that could bring some 1,600 jobs to the area.
