Longview Doctor Named to State Panel

AUSTIN – A Longview doctor is one of seven persons the governor has named to the Statewide health Coordinating Council. He is Yasser Zeid, the chief executive officer and medical doctor at Zeid Womens Health Center. He was appointed to a term set to expire August 1st, 2021. The Council ensures health care services and facilities are available to all Texans through health planning activities. Based on these planning activities, the SHCC makes recommendations to the governor and the legislature through the Texas State Health Plan (TSHP). The council also provides overall guidance in the development of the TSHP, submission of the plan to the governor, and promoting the implementation of the plan.
The doctor previously served as the chief resident of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as a Fellow in the International College of Surgeons. He is a diplomat and board certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologist. Additionally, he is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Texas Medical Association (TMA), Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Medical Association and past chairman of the TMA Maternal and Perinatal Health Committee, and is on the TEXPAC board of directors. Zeid received his Diploma of Medicine and Surgery from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt.
