Smith County-Wide Clean Up Starting Today

TYLER – The annual Smith County-Wide Clean Up begins today. County residents will have the chance to use vouchers to take bulk items to the Greenwood Farms Landfill for free. Smith County residents can pick up vouchers to take 3 cubic yards of solid waste to be disposed of at the landfill for free through April 30. Vouchers are available at the Smith County Annex Building, 200 E. Ferguson, or at any Smith County Constable or Justice of the Peace Office.

The vouchers will be good for 6:30am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday and 6:30am to noon on Saturday. The Greenwood Farms Landfill is located at 12920 Farm Road 2767, or Old Kilgore Highway, in Tyler. Maps to the landfill will be handed out with the vouchers.

Among the many items that will be accepted include furniture, toys and tree trimmings. Items NOT accepted include: hazardous waste, pesticides, herbicides, solvents, gasoline, oils, paint, acid, batteries, Asbestos, wet paint, Freon, whole tires, televisions, computers, refrigerators and freezers.
