MARSHALL – The city of Marshall will settle a racial discrimination lawsuit brought by three former Employees. The suit was filed in U.S. District Court in February 2015 by Former Assistant City Manager Ardis Wright, former Convention Center manager Jennifer Carpenter and former Convention Center senior secretary Willie Rudd. The three contended they were fired from their jobs because they were black. The Longview News Journal reports Marshall City Commissioners voted unanimously to settle the lawsuit for $125,000. The settlement is a lump sum to the plantiffs. Marshall will be paying $50,000, with the Texas Municpal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool paying the other $75,000. Attorneys’ fees are not included in the settlement.
