A Successful Smith County Warrant Roundup

TYLER –The fourth annual Smith County Warrant Round Up turned out to be a big success. This year’s roundup closed out 191 court cases and collected $92,403. The Smith County Judicial Compliance Department mailed out 3,000 yellow flyers February 19, to people with outstanding arrest warrants. People began paying those warrants, and collections for the Warrant Round Up continued through last Friday. Most people contacted paid the fines and only a few were arrested. Although Smith County did not close as many cases and collect as much money as it did last year, they feel the round up was still a success because they collected such a large amount of money and closed many cases in a short period of time.
