Smith County’s Health Rankings

Northeast Texas Public Health DistrictTYLER – Smith County health officials have received some encouraging news concerning the health of county residents. The information is found in the the seventh annual County Health Rankings. It’s prepared by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. Smith County ranked 76 out of 241 counties for Health Outcomes – Today’s Health and 88 out of 241 in Health Factors – Tomorrow’s Health.

According to the report released by the Northeast Texas Public Health District and Smith County, the rankings illustrate in a powerful way that where you live can influence how well and how long you live. And local health officials say, while we have taken important steps to improve the health of our community, there is more we can do to help our residents lead healthier lives. They also say the rankings underscore how important it is to build a culture of health where getting healthy, staying healthy, and making sure our kids grow up healthy are top priorities.
