Thursday Night Structure Fires Under Investigation

TYLER — Tyler firefighters are called out to two separate structure fires Thursday night, reported within a few minutes of each other. Officials said they don’t believe the two are connected. The first fire was reported at a duplex at 4706 Edinburg just after 8:20. The fire was reported to be in the attic and garage. One resident was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A second structure fire was reported around 8:45 at The Reserve apartments, 2851 County Road 272. Officials said one of the upstairs units was on fire. Investigators said the fire started in one of the bedrooms and was contained to that room. The automatic fire sprinkler system was activated and successfully contained the fire while the fire department was en route.Fire damage was minimal, with heat and smoke damage contained to the room of origin. The bedroom, along with the apartment directly beneath the room of origin suffered heavy water damage.
Both of these incidents remain under investigation.
