Transportation Improvement Program Open HouseTYLER — The public is invited to an open house to be held Thursday by the Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in an effort to update the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). According to a news release, the Tyler Area MPO is responsible for transportation planning within the Tyler Metropolitan Area, which includes Tyler, Hideaway, Lindale, New Chapel Hill, Noonday, Whitehouse, and Bullard. The purpose of the TIP is to list the transportation improvements that are scheduled to be implemented within the 2015 through 2018 fiscal years. The update includes the construction of 4.2 miles of a 12 feet wide hike and bike path called the Legacy Trail.

The open house will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Tyler Development Center’s Large Conference Room on W. Ferguson St. across from City Hall. The event kicks off a public comment period that will be held from Jan. 14-27. Copies of the draft TIP will be available for review at the open house and comment cards will be available to receive input. Anyone wanting to review the plan, but unable to attend the open house, can go to http://www.tylerareampo.org to view the draft plan. Citizens will also be able to provide feedback by contacting the MPO at mpo@tylertexas.com or by calling (903) 531-1175.
