Accidental Shooting Reported in Smith County

SMITH COUNTY — A Thursday afternoon shooting in northern Smith County has been ruled accidental. Deputies were called to a home on County Road 446 and learned that Jesse Wiggins, 21, had been shot in the abdomen while his father, Tracey Wiggins, 54, was trying to show him how to unload the weapon. Jesse Wiggins was airlifted to a Tyler hospital for treatment of his injuries where he underwent surgery. He is listed in fair condition and expected to make a full recovery.
