LUFKIN (AP) – An East Texas highway has reopened after crews removed some of the 64 empty cars that derailed from an overpass during storms. The Texas Department of Transportation says Loop 287 in Lufkin reopened Monday. Nobody was hurt when the derailment happened Sunday morning as gusts of about 40 mph blew through Lufkin. The cars, operated by the Angelina & Neches River Railroad Company, were blown off the rail overpass and onto the highway. Crews continued working Monday to remove all of the rail cars after the four-lane highway reopened.
