TDSHS Closes KC Asbestos Case

KILGORE — Kilgore College received a final letter Tuesday from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) that clears the college of all allegations made by former employees related to improper asbestos management at buildings owned or operated by KC in Kilgore, Longview, and Overton. According to a KC news release, the allegations were submitted as affidavits to TDSHS claiming that the college improperly mismanaged asbestos from 1990 to 2014. The report states that no evidence was found to support any of the accusations. The letter reads, “The department has reviewed the allegations and performed an investigation of the complaints. This correspondence is to inform you that the investigation has concluded with the result that evidence was not found to support the allegations that a violation of the Texas Asbestos Health Protection Act and Rules occurred and the matter has been closed.”
