Sheriff: Burglary Suspect Caught in the Act, Had Stolen Credit CardsTYLER — Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith says a burglar has been jailed after being caught in the act — and found with some stolen credit cards. Smith reports a deputy and his K-9 partner answered a call around 9:30 Tuesday morning to a residence on CR 463 in northern Smith County regarding a suspicious vehicle complaint. The dog found a man hiding under items in the garage. Smith says 35-year-old Jason Bowers of Lindale immediately surrendered and was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released for minor injuries resulting from contact with the dog. Bowers was reportedly found with several credit cards which were reported stolen in Henderson County. Bowers is currently charged with burglary of a building. Smith County deputies are said to be in contact with Henderson County investigators regarding possible additional charges.
