Constable Seeks Attempted Kidnapping Suspects

SMITH COUNTY — Smith County Precinct Four Constable John Smith and his deputies are on the search for two people who reportedly tried to abduct two children west of Winona. KETK reports that around 5:30 Thursday evening, a brother and sister walked down to the end of their driveway to wait for their father to get home from work. “It’s something that they do all the time, but it was 5:30, so it was starting to get dark,” said Constable Smith. While the siblings were waiting, a black passenger car pulled up to them. That’s when a Hispanic woman and a man tried to lure the children into the vehicle. “Fortunately the mom was sitting on the front porch and ran down to them, so the driver of the car took off,” explained Constable Smith.

The car is described as a newer black Nissan, though one witness says the car may have been a black Chevy Malibu. The suspects drove west toward Red Springs.
