Fire Heavily Damages Cherokee County Commissioner BuildingJACKSONVILLE — The Cherokee County Commissioner Precinct 3 building was heavily damaged after a fire started Thursday. According to KETK, around 4 p.m., an employee in the building on Highway 79 noticed smoke. Fire officials do not know the cause of the fire, but suspect it could have been electrical. Commissioner Katherine Pinotti (pictured) says, “Our theory is that it was an electrical fire that started from the fan that was on the wall in the shop. Unfortunately, that wire, and where that fan is, was set right behind where we kept oils and very flammable things.” County tools were also kept inside. The employee was able to save most of the FEMA files before they caught on fire. No one was hurt.
