GREGG COUNTY — A Longview man charged with aggravated assault in a Smith County shootout in August was released Monday from the Gregg County Jail, according to the Longview News-Journal. Tyson Dewaylon Dixon, 22, made arrangements with a Longview municipal judge to make payments on a $664 fine attached to the theft conviction. He was arrested Sunday on a misdemeanor theft warrant.
Smith County Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Middleton said Monday that Dixon remains under a bond on the assault charge that left one person dead and injured three others. The investigation was continuing into an Aug. 29 shooting outside Bunny’s convenience store on Loop 323 in Tyler. Smith County authorities were looking for Dixon in early October, but Middleton said he was arrested and charged with aggravated robbery. At least three, including Dixon, have been arrested in connection with the incident.
