Thieves Use Stolen Checks from East Texas MailboxesEAST TEXAS — Harrison County and Tyler investigators are seeking information on surveillance photos taken of people who are stealing checks from mailboxes and forging them. KETK reports the thieves have been spotted in area stores buying merchandise with forged checks reported stolen from mailboxes during the last few months. The bandits purchased items at Wal-Mart stores in Mt. Pleasant, Center, Jacksonville, Tyler, and Harrison County.

The thieves’ plan is to buy items from a Wal-Mart with the forged checks, then drive to a different Wal-Mart and return the merchandise for cash. All of their images have been captured in various stores around East Texas. The thieves are believed to be driving a silver four-door Toyota pickup. Any information may be given anonymously to either Tyler Police Department Investigator Royce Jordan at 903-531-1032 or Harrison County Investigator Bill Turner at 903-923-4000.
