Four Finalists Named for KC President Position

Four Finalists Named for KC President PositionKILGORE — The Kilgore College Board of Trustees has narrowed the field to four as it seeks its next president. Current President Dr. William M. “Bill” Holda announced July 2 that he will retire effective Jan. 31, 2016. Officials say the finalists will undergo extensive interviews on a one-day campus visit.

Finalists and campus visit/interview dates:

Dr. Kyle Wagner – Thursday, Nov. 5
Dr. Mark Smith – Tuesday, Nov. 10
Dr. Brenda Kays – Thursday, Nov. 12
Dr. Lynn Moore – Monday, Nov. 16

Officials say there will be two open forums on each interview day at which KC faculty/staff, students, and the community will have an opportunity to ask questions of the finalists. The forums will be held from 1:15 to 2 p.m. and 2:15 to 3 p.m. on each scheduled interview day on the second floor of the McLaurin Administration Building.

Here’s a rundown of the candidates:

Dr. Brenda Kays:
· Current position: President, Stanly Community College, North Carolina
· Former Vice President Student Learning & Success, Guilford Technical Community College, North Carolina
· Former Chief Academic Officer/Dean of Instructional Services, Vernon College, Texas
· Ed.D. from University of North Texas at Denton

Dr. Lynn Moore:
· Current position: President, Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College
· Former Vice President -Administrative Services & Student Development, Umpqua Community College, Oregon
· Former Dean of Students, Hill College District, Texas
· Ph.D. from The University of Texas at Austin

Dr. Mark Smith:

· Current position: Vice President of Educational Services at Temple College
· Former College Director of Student Affairs and Distance Learning at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College
· Former Airborne Computer/Radar Instructor Supervisor, United States Air Force
· Ph.D. from Capella University

Dr. Kyle Wagner:
· Current position: Vice President Instruction & Economic Development, Coastal Bend College, Texas
· Former Vice President of Workforce Innovations & Education, Mid-South Community College, Arkansas
· Former Assistant Dean, Aerospace & Related Technologies, Salt Lake Community College, Utah
· Ph.D. from Capella University
