Woman Dies in Jacksonville Fire

JACKSONVILLE — The cause of a fatal Jacksonville fire remains under investigation. The fire was reported around 3:30 Sunday morning at 723 Palestine Street. Jacksonville Fire Chief Keith Fortner tells KTBB the elderly victim was Lila Baty. She is said to have lived alone in the home. The house was extensively damaged by the fire, which is thought to have started in an east front room of the house. The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
