Local Teen Competes on “The Voice”TYLER — A local teen has been picked to be on a popular singing competition on NBC. Chance Peña, 15, belted out “I See Fire” on “The Voice” Tuesday night, before music superstars Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, Pharrell Williams and Adam Levine. In the end, the Maroon 5 front man picked the Tyler singer to be on his team for the competition.

According to KETK, Peña comes from a family of entrepreneurs. His parents own Premier CrossFit and his younger brother started his own skateboard company. Seeing his family succeed at their dreams gave Peña the motivation to pursue music, according to his biography on NBC. He got his first guitar when he was only 8-years-old and recently purchased a banjo.

At the encouragement of his father, Peña began to open for a local musician and started to book his own gigs.
